Our standards

Built differently

The materials

  • Material: Western red cedar. A classic sauna wood with a warm cedar aroma, soft touch, and the calm interior feel we wanted for long, unhurried rounds.
  • Insulation: Havelock sheep’s wool. Sheep’s wool in the walls instead of spray foam. It holds heat, breathes, and gives off nothing when the room hits 190°F. What you breathe here is steam and wood.
  • Floor: Stainless steel. Non-porous and naturally antimicrobial, the same reason commercial kitchens use it. It gets a real wash between sessions, not a mop over a rubber mat.
  • Water: Distilled. Steam and drinking water, both distilled. No chlorine to breathe in when the water hits the stones. No microplastics. No mineral buildup.
  • Stove: IKI wood-fired. A Finnish IKI stove under a full basket of stones runs the room at 180–200°F with the soft, heavy steam that wood heat is known for. No electric elements.
  • Origin: Made in the USA. From the Timber Sauna to the Fjord plunge, every component is built by people we can call. If something's wrong, we can fix it.

How we clean

  • Wipe, reset, then the next round. Benches get wiped. Towels turn over. The room is ready before the next group sits down — not after they notice.
  • Paraffin oil on cedar. Western red cedar drinks sweat if you leave it raw. Paraffin oil is the traditional finish: it feeds the grain, keeps moisture out, and makes the benches easier to keep clean without sealing the wood in plastic.
  • Steam and wood. That's it.. No spray foam. No rubber mats. Distilled water on the stones, so you are not breathing chlorine or microplastics when löyly hits.
